Verifying Your Domain

Verifying your institution’s domain allows users to send email through PowerFAIDS using the email address listed in the School Profile. This process usually is completed by your IT department.

Complete the following steps to verify your domain:

  1. Retrieve the CNAME entries listed in System Administration > Campus Information > School Profile, and take a screenshot for later reference.
  2. Sign into your domain host.

Tip: If you’re not sure of your domain host, check your billing records or use the ICANN lookup.

  3. Add the CNAME record to your domain’s DNS records.

Note: To complete this last step, you may need to see your domain host’s documentation or to contact them directly for more specific instructions. Typically the process follows the steps below:

    1. Access your domain’s DNS records.

    2. Add a record to your DNS settings, selecting CNAME as the record type.

    3. Enter the values provided in Step 1.

    4. Save your record.

  4. After entering the CNAME record in your domain provider’s website, take a screenshot of the entry.

If you are currently implementing PowerFAIDS, upload this screenshot and the one taken in Step 1 to the Training Center module associated with this task. If you have already completed implementing PowerFAIDS, email both screenshots to PowerFAIDS Support.

Once the CNAME record changes go in effect, your domain verification status will change from Domain Not Verified to Domain Verified in the School Profile.
